Understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying satellite cells proliferation, differentiation and fusion
My current research interests aim to better understand the regulation of trout satellite cell activity (proliferation, differentiation, fusion) by growth factors and miRNA. The satellite cells are the muscle stem cells which are essential for fiber hypertrophy and hyperplasia. We have developped an in vitro model of myogenesis based on the culture of satellite cell culture. Thanks to this model, we can maintain the cells in a proliferative state and induce their differentiation, which allow accurate studies. We have developped the use of cell biology tools (immunocytofluorence, western blot, recombinant protein, siRNA etc...) to monitor the activity of satellite cells. We are currently studying the function of myostatin and IGFs on the proliferation and the differentiation of satellite cells. In addition, we are interested in the function of miRNA in the regulation of satellite cell activity.
