Research interests

I have broad interests in evolutionary biology, ecology and population genetics of phytophagous insects, with a particular attention paid to aphids for both fundamental and applied issues. One of my main scientific contributions has been on the paradox of sex using aphids as models because of their coexisting sexual and asexual reproductive modes. Right now, I am identifying the genetic and molecular basis of reproductive mode variation in the pea aphid through a combination of population genomics and QTL analyses.

In the last 10 years, I have extended my researches to the evolution and ecology of aphid-plant interactions. I showed in particular that the pea aphid complex underwent a recent and rapid ecological diversification through multiple host shifts, leading to continuum of divergence from host races to incipient species. Currently, I am working on the evolutionary genetics of plant specialization in aphids using genomics, evolutionary biology and bioinformatics approaches. I have also interests on facultative symbionts and their roles on aphid's ecology and evolution.
